METEOR Presented at SIPED 2025 Conference: Exploring the Social Responsibility of Doctoral Education

The University of Verona presented the METEOR project at the National Conference of the Italian Society of Pedagogy (SIPED), hosted by the University of Parma. The conference, “The Quality of Education as Social Responsibility,” brought together scholars, educators, and policymakers to reflect on transformative approaches in pedagogy, educational practice, and innovation.

In a session dedicated to the evolving role of doctoral education, Dr. Daniela Bianchi (University of Verona) introduced METEOR to the academic community, outlining its core objectives and first findings. The presentation focused on the project’s mission to strengthen transversal competences, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance the social impact of research through a new model of doctoral training.

METEOR was framed as an opportunity to rethink the PhD journey as a transformative path, not only preparing researchers for academic excellence but also equipping them to contribute meaningfully to society. The session sparked discussions on both the potential and the challenges of existing doctoral education models, aligning well with the conference’s broader theme of education’s societal responsibility.

We thank our colleagues from the University of Verona, particularly Dr. Daniela Bianchi and METEOR Project Coordinator Prof. Marta Milani, for contributing to the growing discourse on the future of doctoral education in Europe and beyond.
