University of Verona presents METEOR research on AI in doctoral education at SIPED 2026

The University of Verona took part in the 2026 SIPED National Conference, presenting research connected to the Horizon Europe METEOR project and sharing ongoing work on the role of Artificial Intelligence in doctoral education.

The presentation explored how doctoral candidates and early-career researchers are integrating AI into their everyday research practices. It highlighted both the opportunities created by AI-supported tools and the pedagogical questions that arise when these technologies become part of research training and academic work.

This contribution offered a valuable opportunity to engage with the wider discussion on the future of doctoral education in the age of AI. It also helped connect METEOR’s work on researcher development with current debates in higher education, digital transformation and responsible research practice.

Connecting AI and transversal skills in doctoral education

Within METEOR, Artificial Intelligence is relevant not only as a technical tool, but also as a topic that raises important questions for research quality, critical thinking, academic integrity and responsible innovation.

The SIPED presentation therefore connects closely to METEOR’s wider aim of strengthening transversal competences among doctoral candidates and early-career researchers. These competences include the ability to work critically with emerging technologies, communicate research effectively and reflect on how new tools shape everyday research practices.

METEOR in dialogue with the higher education community

By presenting this work at SIPED 2026, the University of Verona contributed METEOR insights to an important national forum for educational research.
